You may know that Bennerley Viaduct has been restored over the past few years and the eastern ramp rebuilt, linking it to the Erewash Canal.
On Sunday 7th August the Friends of Bennerley are organising an official ‘opening’ event between 11am and 3pm.
The Lord Lieutenants of both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire will be there at 12:00 to cut a ribbon and symbolically meet at the place where the county border runs underneath the viaduct, as well as other representatives from the trustees and organisations that have funded the restoration.
The overall event will include a brass band, food and drink, guided tours and family activities so all are welcome. It’s a perfect place to include in a Sunday walk or cycle along the Erewash or Nottingham canals.
