Kimberley Roadworks – Grant Support for Local Businesses

Support for Local Businesses Affected by Cadent Roadworks 29th July – 6th October

Kimberley Town Council and Broxtowe Borough Council would like to offer affected businesses the opportunity to apply for grant funding of up to £1000 to help with lost income or short-term cash flow challenges. No match funding is required. The principal requirement for a successful application will be to demonstrate the likely impact on the business during the roadworks.

To apply, please fill in a paper form, which you can get by following the link at the bottom of this page, or by calling in at the Parish Hall Office between 12:00 and 14:00 Monday – Friday. Please note the office is moving to a portable office behind the cricket pavilion at the Cricket Ground on Newdigate Street from Wednesday 31st July. Forms must be returned to the Parish Hall Office at the cricket ground (or you can post in the post box at the front of the Parish Hall) by Monday 12th August  at the latest. We will endeavour to assess applications as quickly as possible and pay any awarded grants without delay. Payments will be made direct by Broxtowe Borough Council.

If you need any help obtaining a form please contact the Clerk  at the Parish Hall Office in person, phone 0115 938 2733 or by email @ theclerk@kimberley-tc.gov.uk. Town Councillors will aim to call in to as many retail businesses as they can to distribute application forms over the next few days.

The funding source for these grants is the Kimberley Levelling Up Fund.

There are a few conditions:

  1. Grants of up to £1,000 may be awarded;
  2. Businesses must remain open/trading during the works;
  3. Businesses must apply to the Cadent compensation scheme (above) when they are able to;
  4. If a business is successful in receiving compensation from the Cadent scheme, any grant given under this scheme will be repaid within 18 months, in up to three instalments. Businesses unsuccessful in any Cadent application will not have to repay this grant.
  5. Any other assistance from the public sector (e.g. a reduction in Business Rates, should these be chargeable) will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
  6. Businesses based in the home, as opposed to a shop, must prove how their business will be impacted by the Cadent works. This will also be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
