Levelling Up – Improvements to Kimberley Town Centre

Keep your eyes open!

Supported by the Levelling Up Fund, the Town Council are making some changes in the centre of Kimberley over the next few weeks. You may have already noticed the recently installed historical photos, created & installed by BD Signs on the side of the precinct. That was just the start – there are more changes coming.

You will have seen new hanging shop signs appearing outside many of the businesses on Main Street and James Street. Our appointed contractor Apollo Signs Ltd has done a fabulous job, and the signs add a sense of uniformity to both streets, whilst perfectly reflecting Kimberley’s unique and varied local businesses.

Also live and open to applications is the Kimberley Levelling Up Business Booster scheme which allows businesses to apply for up to £5,000 to help businesses attract people back into the town centre.

The purpose of the scheme is to support local  Kimberley businesses and to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Kimberley, for both residents and visitors, developing people’s pride in the town and attracting footfall in the town centre. Plans to install a Living Green Wall in the garden area next to the precinct along with other additions that will improve that specific area of the town centre are underway, and this area will be drastically improved within the next month.

During July we will revamp Toll Bar Square with new benches and planters. We’ll install a new cycle shelter, repaint the ironwork and clean up the paving making it a really attractive place to take a rest in the town centre.

Then over the summer we will plant a lot of new shrubs to improve the garden areas and by autumn we plan to install lighting across Kimberley’s garden areas to make the town centre really attractive at night.

This is just one of many projects made possible through the support of the Levelling Up Fund and collaboration with Broxtowe Borough Council to invest in and improve Kimberley.
We hope you like the changes!
